Welcome to Bayka, I’m Ranae and I am the CEO and starter of this company. I have been baking since I was a little girl and haven’t stopped since. Mum and both my grandmothers all baked and it encouraged me to learn how to bake. I very quickly learnt that this is what I really enjoyed. From there I started helping make birthday cakes and making cakes for school projects. When I was about 12 - 13 yrs old we worked out I was highly allergic to dairy. This meant going out to cafes and bakeries I felt left out because the options were very limited. I learnt how to adjust my baking to be dairy free but it didn’t always go to plan. So I decided to go study it to work out how to properly adjust a recipe to become dairy free. I started studying Bakery at UCOL Palmerston North which really helped my confidence and then I was encouraged to go to Wellington to gain my international Patisserie qualification.
Fast forward to 2024, and I have been working as a full time cake decorator for 4 yrs and still struggling for options when I go to cafes and bakeries. So I have decided to do something about it. I renovated a tiny house into a commercial kitchen to operate Bayka out of and I can not wait to see how far Bayka goes and who we get to meet through it.
